EzApply  Setup guide

From download to your first application, step by step.

Plan on about 15 minutes. You do this once; after that you open EzApply and press Start.

Before you start

Have these ready. It makes the setup a lot quicker.

  • A Windows 10 or 11 PC, or 64-bit Linux, with 8 GB of RAM and 4 GB of free disk space
  • Your license key, from the email you got after subscribing
  • Your CV as a PDF (one you made on a computer, not a scan or a photo)
  • A Google account (Gmail is fine) for the free AI key
  • Your LinkedIn login

01

Install EzApply

On Windows

  1. Open EzApply-Setup.exe from your Downloads folder.
  2. If a blue window says “Windows protected your PC”, click More info, then Run anyway. Windows shows this for new apps it hasn't seen often yet.
  3. Click through the installer. It doesn't need administrator rights. Leave “Start EzApply now” ticked at the end.

On Linux

  1. Right-click EzApply-x86_64.AppImage → Properties → Permissions, and tick Allow executing file as program.
  2. Double-click it. EzApply also adds itself to your app menu.

The first start downloads what EzApply needs (about 1.5 GB) and shows its progress. That takes a few minutes; later starts take seconds. When it's done, EzApply opens in its own window.

Everything runs on your own PC, not on the internet. Closing the EzApply window stops EzApply and the bot, like any other app. To use it again, open EzApply from the Start menu (Windows) or your app menu (Linux).

02

Activate your license

  1. Find the email from Lemon Squeezy that came after you subscribed. Your license key is in it.
  2. Copy the key, paste it into EzApply and click Activate.

Can't find the email? Check your spam folder, or log in at app.lemonsqueezy.com/my-orders with the same email address.

One key works on 2 computers. Moving to a new PC? Open License in EzApply on the old one and click Deactivate first.

03

Read the welcome screen

Five short cards explain how EzApply works. The most important one: stay at your PC while the bot applies. Job sites show “I'm not a robot” checks, and EzApply never tries to get around them. It stops, plays a sound, shows a notification and waits for you to click.

Tick the box at the end to say you've read it, and the setup starts.

04In the app: step 1 of 7, AI

Get your free Gemini API key

EzApply uses Google's Gemini AI to read job posts, write your letters and answer questions. An API key is a password that lets EzApply use Gemini on your behalf. It's free, needs no credit card and takes two minutes.

  1. Open aistudio.google.com/apikey (the setup screen in EzApply has the same link).
  2. Sign in with your Google account. The first time, Google asks you to accept its terms: tick the box and continue.
  3. Click Create API key. If Google asks you to pick a project, choose the one it suggests or let it create a new one. The name doesn't matter.
  4. Your key appears: a long code that starts with AIza. Click the copy button next to it.
  5. Go back to EzApply, paste the key in the box and click Save.
  6. EzApply tests the key right away. When you see Key works, you're done with this step.

Google Gemini API key

AIzaSyD••••••••••••••••••••••7Qk Key works
What a working key looks like in EzApply. Yours is about 39 characters long.

Treat the key like a password. Don't post it or send it to anyone, including us. EzApply only stores it on your PC.

Don't turn on billing in Google AI Studio. The free tier is enough, and EzApply slows down to stay inside it. If you ever add a payment method there, Google can bill you directly.

If the key doesn't work

  • Copy it again with the copy button. A missing letter or an extra space at the end is the usual cause.
  • A brand-new key can take a minute before it works. Wait a moment and click Save again.
  • Using a work or school Google account? The administrator may have switched AI Studio off. Use a personal Gmail account instead.
  • Google AI Studio needs an adult Google account, and isn't available in every country.
  • Lost the key? Open the same page, create a new one and paste that into EzApply.

Google changes its pages now and then, so a button may be named slightly differently. Look for “API key”.

No Google account? Under the key box there's an option to use a local AI model through Ollama instead. We don't recommend it: it needs a strong PC, the answers are worse, and it only works for LinkedIn Easy Apply.

05In the app: step 2 of 7, CV

Upload your CV

Choose your CV as a PDF. The AI reads it and turns it into the profile it fills applications with. This takes up to a minute.

Use a PDF you saved from Word, Google Docs or similar. A scanned or photographed CV contains no text the AI can read, and EzApply will ask for another file.

06In the app: step 3 of 7, About you

About you

Forms ask things a CV usually leaves out: your phone number and address, whether you may work in the country, salary expectations, when you can start, your languages. Fill in what you can. Be honest: these answers are sent to employers in your name.

07In the app: step 4 of 7, Skills

Check your skills

The AI lists the skills it found in your CV. Remove the wrong ones and add what's missing: tools, software, languages, certificates, licences. Every job is scored against this list, so it decides which jobs EzApply applies to.

08In the app: step 5 of 7, Jobs

Choose the jobs you want

Enter the job titles to search for (for example “Data Analyst” and “BI Developer”), the locations, and filters like remote work or experience level. Click Save, then continue.

Start with two or three titles you'd really take. You can change this any time under Settings.

09In the app: step 6 of 7, Interview

Answer the interview

The AI writes the questions employers in your field usually ask. A nurse gets asked about registration and shifts, a developer about their stack. Answer what you can and leave the rest empty. EzApply reuses these answers in every application, so a few minutes here saves a lot of wrong answers later.

10In the app: step 7 of 7, LinkedIn

Connect LinkedIn

  1. Click Connect LinkedIn. A separate browser window opens on LinkedIn.
  2. Log in as you normally do. Two-step verification is fine.
  3. Wait until you see your LinkedIn feed. EzApply notices, saves the login on your PC and closes the window itself.

Your password is never stored, only the login session, and only on your computer.

Indeed (optional): click Open Indeed login. The first time, EzApply downloads the browser Indeed needs (about 1.3 GB, a few minutes). Then log in the same way. Then switch Indeed on under Settings → Job search. Indeed shows a captcha on every application, so you need to be at your PC for each one.

11

Press Start

The dashboard opens. Click Start and EzApply begins searching and applying. While it runs:

  • Stay near your PC. When a sound plays or a notification appears, click the captcha or log in in the window it shows. If you're away, that job is skipped.
  • New questions show up on the dashboard. Answer them once, and EzApply uses the answer from then on.
  • On the dashboard, choose Review each job instead of Automatic for your first day. EzApply then fills in every application and stops before Submit, so you can check it. Nothing is sent until you click Submit application.
  • Keep it to a few dozen good applications a day. When LinkedIn says you've reached its daily Easy Apply limit, EzApply stops applying there until the next day.

If something goes wrong

  • Nothing happens when I open the installer: on Windows, look for the “Windows protected your PC” window behind other windows. On Linux, check that “allow executing” is ticked.
  • The first start stops halfway: check your internet connection and open EzApply again. It continues where it stopped.
  • Start says “Finish setup first”: one of the setup steps isn't done. Open Setup; it jumps to the first missing step.
  • LinkedIn asks me to log in again: open Setup → LinkedIn and connect again. LinkedIn ends sessions now and then.
  • An application went wrong: switch the dashboard to Review each job so you check each one before it's sent.

Still stuck? Email support@ezapply.app with what you did and what you saw. A screenshot helps. Never include your API key or license key.
